Edinburgh kit unveiled for 2017/18 season

The new Edinburgh Rugby playing kit for the 2017/18 season, designed and made by technical sponsor Macron, was unveiled today.

The home jersey again adopts the black and red of Edinburgh, mixed with modern stylistic and technical details that make the collection something special.

The traditional black colour is enriched - back and front - by horizontal red stripes. The polo-style collar is embroidered with the club’s founding year, 1872, and the black shorts and socks carry red details on both sides with the same horizontal pattern of the jersey.

The away jersey has the same technical details of the home jersey, both in the fabric and the cut. It is full red with a graphic pattern of diagonal stripes on the back and front.

Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director, Jonny Petrie, said: “We have worked closely with Macron to create an inspiring kit with a hint of something different, and we’re delighted with the final product.

“I’m very much looking forward to seeing the team, and our supporters, wearing our new Macron kit with pride.”

Sports Marketing Manager for Macron, Ross Cook, said: “It’s always exciting to work with Edinburgh as this was where the Macron journey into the world of rugby began. It’s such an exciting time to work with the club with a new coaching staff on board and a move to their new home at Myreside.

“As always, we worked hand-in-hand with the Edinburgh Rugby team to create something that remains at the forefront of technical advancement while visually giving the fans both match day kits and a collection that makes them truly proud to be part of the club while they continue on their exciting journey.”

The team will play in the new kit for the first time on Friday 18 August when they take on Sale Sharks in pre-season at Meggetland (kick-off 7.35pm).

Both kits are available to pre-order now by logging onto edinburghrugby.org and will be available to buy from the Scottish Rugby Store at a special exclusive sale event on Thursday 17 August from 6pm - 8pm. The kit will hit all other retailers on Saturday 19 August.
